In consideration of the virus affecting our communities, and after discussion with the Multicultural Festival Committee, a decision has been made to postpone this year’s festival until a later date. This decision was reached after reviewing guidelines set out by the Centers for Disease Control, local governmental agencies, and the Diocese of Tyler to ensure the safety of our parishioners and friends. We will continue to work with our vendors and volunteers to set a new date as soon as reasonable. Once a date has been set, a notification will be made through a parish-wide Flocknote and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church website.
In addition, the festival committee is aware that this delay, and/or an inability to interact with the general public, will significantly affect the success of the raffle. After a discussion with each raffle donor, a decision was made to also delay the raffle drawing. However, we highly encourage you to continue to support the church by selling any tickets in your possession after it is deemed safe to interact with others. These tickets may be sold with the guarantee that the drawing will be held before the end of the calendar year or at the rescheduled festival, whichever comes first.
Lastly, I would like to thank the Multicultural Festival Committee, raffle donors, and everyone who supports our festival through their talents or financial support. The Multicultural Festival is a long-standing tradition for Catholic Nacogdoches and the community. This tradition is only made possible through the sacrifices and commitments of these individuals. We will continue to work together to ensure the Multicultural Festival is a success in 2020.
